Tynes Tiger Families,

Tynes Tiger Families,

Can you believe it's already September and we have completed the first month of school. Yesterday, Friday September 5th was interim day. You can check your child's current progress in ParentVue. You will also want to set up your Apptegy account if you have not already done so. These two tools will help you to see your child's progress and monitor attendance and communicate with the classroom teachers.

I also want to invite all families to Open House on Monday, September 8th. The details are below. This is a great opportunity to meet the teachers if you did not get to attend Orientation, and to find out more information on curriculum and instruction for your children.

If you need help or have additional questions, you may contact our front office at (904)336-3850. Monday-Friday 7:30 am-3:30 pm.

Thanks again for your ongoing support!

Pre-Register for Dads to School Day

We welcome all role models to walk their children to class on 9/19. To facilitate full access to campus, you need to do 2 things. Pre-register with the QR code and have your drivers license on file. If you have already been through our Raptor system, just pre-register and you can pick up your badge at the table by the front office. If you need to have your ID scanned through Raptor, come by the office no later than Monday 9/15. We will have staff on hand Monday 9/8 during Open House to help!

Would you like to volunteer at Tynes?

Thanks to everyone who came out fo our volunteer orientation yesterday. If you registered as a Clay County volunteer last school year, you do NOT have to re-register this year. If you are new to Clay or to volunteering, the first step is to register as a volunteer. Visit the Volunteer homepage for more information and for the link to register.

Thrillshare, Apptegy, Rooms, Alerts...

With the increase in end of summer storms and the possibility of a delayed dismissal, I want to be sure that you can receive important information in a timely manner. If you have not already set up your Apptegy Rooms account, you will want to do so.

If your child is a biker/walker, now is a great time to devise your rainy day plan. We will not send bikers/walkers out into an active lightning event, but if storms are forecasted and you want a change of transportation, you will need to contact us in writing - email is just fine.

If you have already set up your Apptegy account and you need support,  families can visit this webpage for assistance with questions regarding Apptegy - OneClay App, Rooms, and Messages: oneclay.net/app

We send two types of text messages: Alerts and Rooms messages.

Alerts are for important, time-sensitive information that applies to many students and families. Examples include weather delays, school closures, or other district-wide announcements.

Rooms messages are for updates from your child’s classroom or school. This might include information about class events, school activities, or messages from a teacher.

If you previously opted out of receiving our text messages and would like to start receiving them again, you can opt back in.

  • For Alerts, text START to 98900

  • For Rooms messages, text START to 27806

Beginning of Year Assessments

If you are new to Florida or new to Clay County, I want to share some information about beginning of the year assessments with you. Our VPK-6th graders take the FAST (Florida Assessment of Student Thinking) in reading and math three times each year, with the first assessment window as follows:

6th Grade 9/9 - 9/10

Kindergarten and 3rd Grade 9/16 & 9/18

You can find more information about the content and format of the FAST assessments at the Florida Department of Education website.

In addition to the FAST beginning of year assessment, the district also has some diagnostic tools for reading, math, and science that are specific to the various grades. Diagnostic student data is used by classroom teachers to make decisions about how to create small groups and how to prioritize instruction for your children.

Counselors Corner

On behalf of the school counseling department, please allow us to welcome all families to the 2025-2026 school year!  Mr. Wright, Mrs. Ceragioli, and Mrs. Payne are honored to serve your students.  As part of the new OneClay Culture initiative, which includes character education and resiliency supports, we'd like to share that the culture characteristic for August and September is Community.  This characteristic includes the topics citizenship, empathy/kindness, gratitude, and bullying prevention.  These topics will also serve as the focus of guidance lessons for these months school-wide in classrooms from starting with Kindergarten and rising in each grade level up through sixth grade.  Included below are links to parent resources that can be used to discuss these skills around the dinner table with your students.  There are countless ways that your family helps the neighborhood and community, so feel free to use these examples with your kids to share what you are already doing to help others!

Clinic News

If your child needs medication administered during the school day, an adult must bring the medication to school, along with the necessary paperwork. If you need assistance with that, feel free to stop by the office and we will gladly help get that completed. Medication must be in the original bottle with the prescription label. Students cannot transport prescription medication to school. If your child's doctor wishes him or her to self carry (inhaler or epipen) there is still paperwork that must be completed and on file at the clinic. Nurse Katie welcomes all questions you may have about your child's medication or overall health.
