News You Can Use...

Happy National School Counseling Week- Ms. Barbaro, Ms. Wilkinson, Ms. Yarbrough, and Ms. Dawson

This week (Feb 5–9), we are thrilled to celebrate National School Counseling Week! It is a special time to recognize the unique contribution of our school counselors within our school system and the tremendous impact they have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.

At OPJ, we are incredibly lucky to have a "Dream Team" dedicated to listening, supporting, and guiding our students every single day. We want to send a massive thank you to:

Ms. Barbaro

Ms. Wilkinson

Ms. Yarbrough

Ms. Dawson

Whether it’s lending an ear during a tough day, helping navigate academic choices, or simply offering a safe space to breathe, these four women go above and beyond to ensure our students feel seen, heard, and supported.

If you see Ms. Barbaro, Ms. Wilkinson, Ms. Yarbrough, or Ms. Dawson in the halls this week, please give them a high-five or a "thank you" for all the heart work they do!

Celebrating Black History Month

Every year during the month of February, we recognize and celebrate African Americans who have impacted our community, state, country, and the world. We celebrate their achievements and learn about their work as entrepreneurs, artists, scientists, inventors, architects, and more.

We also learn about the struggles African Americans experienced throughout history and the people who advocated for change. Black History Month is a time to reflect, learn, and celebrate.

This year’s Black History Month theme is “A Century of Black History Month Commemorations.”.
