Mission Update

Discovery Oaks Admin Message

It is an exciting time at Discovery Oaks Elementary School. This is the Parent Mission Update Newsletter, aimed at keeping our community informed of important campus events. In this issue, we provide some back-to-school tips to kick off the year on a positive note. Many parents are eager to know how they can support their child's learning at home. We recommend starting to prepare for the upcoming school year by establishing a consistent bedtime routine. Creating habits now will set the tone for a successful school year ahead.

We understand that many of you are anxious to learn about your new teachers for the 2025-2026 school year. However, we are still in the process of registering and rostering our Voyager scholars. Schedules will be available on Tuesday, August 5th, at 11 a.m. in ParentVue. Intentionality is our mission for the 2025-2026school year. We share your enthusiasm as we approach August 11th, the first day of school.

Sincerely,

Mr. Herrholtz

Transportation

BUS Registration for the 2025-2026 is now open!

Dear Parents and Guardians,
Beginning with the 2025–2026 school year, the Clay County District Schools Transportation Department will implement a new opt-in registration process and a bus tracking program to enhance the safety, visibility, and efficiency of our transportation services.

This new system will help us accurately identify students who need transportation and support the development of more efficient bus routes as our county continues to grow. We understand that transitioning to new systems, including a new app, may require some adjustments. However, your cooperation is essential in ensuring we continue to provide safe and reliable transportation for all students. During this transition, please note that if your child is moving to a new school, has changed their address, or is enrolled in a Summer School Program, registration will not be available until the third week of July.

Please also be aware that students who live within 2 miles of their zoned school are not eligible for bus transportation unless a district-approved hazard has been identified. Florida Statutes and Rules: 6A-3, 1006.23, and 1011.68.
If you believe your child qualifies for a hazard exemption, please complete the necessary form at sdcc.mybusplanner.com.

If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact the Clay County District Schools Transportation Department by emailing routing@myoneclay.net or calling 904-336-0001, option 2.

Thank you for supporting student transportation!

Clay County District Schools Policy Reminders

Wireless Communication Policy

Wireless Device Policy Update

Attention OneClay Families | In June, the School Board approved the 2025-2026 Student Code of Conduct, which includes changes to the District’s use of wireless communication devices policy for students, which is inclusive of: laptops, Chromebooks, tablets, smartphones, smartwatches, and Bluetooth devices.

In compliance with Florida House Bill 379, the District’s policy has been revised from last school year to restrict wireless communication devices from morning bell to dismissal bell, including class changes throughout the school day. Junior high and elementary students will not be permitted to use their wireless communication devices during the day. Only high school students will be permitted to use their devices at lunch. Students may not use a wireless communication device during instructional time except when expressly directed by a teacher solely for educational purposes. The updated policy can be found under section 6.4 of the Student Code of Conduct. Click here to review the Code of Conduct: https://as.myoneclay.net/student-code-of-conduct. Additionally, please see our Frequently Asked Questions document for more information regarding this policy: https://docs.google.com/.../1Gl6A13LE31P0g6E.../edit...

Please know that in the event of a school-wide emergency, students will have access to their devices. We ask for your continued support in upholding not only the law and the School Board policy but also helping our schools maintain an environment conducive to academic learning. We look forward to seeing students back in class for the new school year on Monday, August 11th.
