Greetings, Clay Hill Families!
I hope you are all enjoying a wonderful, relaxing Spring Break filled with sunshine and quality time together. We look forward to all the seasonal events in the next few weeks, including the Clay County Fair!
As we step back into our classrooms this week, we have officially entered the fourth quarter of the school year. This is a pivotal time for our students. While we are looking forward to all the springtime fun, our primary focus right now is on finishing strong and preparing for our end-of-year, state FAST Assessments.
Our teachers have been working diligently, aligning their daily instruction with the Florida B.E.S.T. Standards in ELA and Math, and the Florida Science Standards to ensure every child is ready to shine. We want our students to feel confident and prepared to show off everything they’ve learned this year!
Success is a team effort, and your support at home makes a world of difference. To help your student prepare for testing season, please prioritize attendance, as every instructional minute counts! Ensure your child is at school on time every day, unless they are unwell. Next, establish a routine. A consistent bedtime and a nutritious breakfast provide the mental fuel needed for high-level thinking and problem-solving. Encourage daily reading, and spend 20 minutes each evening reading together while limiting (and monitoring) your child's screen time. This builds the stamina required for the ELA assessments. Finally, stay positive, and remind your child that these assessments are simply a chance to "show what they know." A little encouragement goes a long way in reducing testing anxiety.
We are so proud of the academic progress our Bulldogs have made so far this year. Let’s work together to make this final quarter our best one yet!
Remember that tomorrow, March 23, is a Teacher Planning Day, and there is no school. Students return to school on Tuesday, March 24. We'll see you before the 8:30 bell to kick off the fourth quarter strong!
Warm Regards,
Adele Reed
