Message from Principal Reed |
Dear Clay Hill Families,
We had a fabulous return to the new year this week at school! Thank you for your support of a smooth restart and strong engagement! We are especially grateful to our parents who volunteered at the Ice Cream Social on Friday, as we celebrated our A and A/B Honor Roll students!
This week, we will wrap up our midyear state testing with grades 5 and 6, and begin analyzing data with our teacher teams to plan for instruction and ensure student readiness for end-of-year expectations. Don't miss our SAC meeting (which is being combined with monthly Cookies and Conversation) on Thursday, during which we'll share with parents our midyear data and next steps for responding to students' needs.
Overtime Athletics has extended registration for another week, will move to Mondays this month, and is available for students in grades K-6. Registration has been extended another week! Track Tryouts will take place over three days this week for students in grades 4 - 6 who have submitted parent permission forms.
We are also growing more excited every day as the Apple Awards grow nearer! CHE's own Rhonda Samples is being honored at a Top 5 Finalist for the Clay County School-Related Employee of the Year, and a featurette of her, as well as our CHE staff and students, will be presented during the event. Our Clay Hill families are welcome and encouraged to attend on January 22, at 6:00 pm, at the Thrasher-Horne.
Thank you, parents, for supporting the great work of our team, and for being the greatest community in Clay County! Let's go, Jaguars!
Sincerely,
Adele Reed

Success with Positive Behavior |
What fun we had at our PAW Point Party on December 19! Students attended if they met their PAWS Points Goals for the second quarter, and we were proud to acknowledge student efforts in making appropriate choices that promote a strong culture of learning and respect across our campus.
We continue to promote positive behaviors with our weekly Culture lessons, Monthly MVP awards, and the daily reinforcement of behavior with acknowledgement and PAWS Points. Check your child's PAWS Points balance in his Portal in the PBIS Rewards tile! Let us know what questions you have about access PBIS Rewards and/or your child's progress with academic and social behavior at school!
Finally, our PAWS Points Store requires constant restocking, as students routinely "shop" with PAWS Points and earn items from the store. Help us keep our students motivated to work hard for the opportunity to select rewards by supporting the fulfillment of our Amazon Wishlist! THANK YOU for your support by reinforcing positive behavior expectations at home and, if possible, by fulfilling a wish from our Amazon list!

Let's Read Together, CHE! |
We've had so much fun with the Sunshine State Young Readers this year, and great literacy experiences continue this quarter withy Storm Dragons and Benny Ramirez and the Nearly Departed! We will celebrate these titles in March, along with our other SSYRA texts as we prepare for the annual Battle of the Books and SSYRA Reader Recognitions!
Take the Chick-fil-A Challenge by reading all 15 SSYRA titles and passing the test for each title in Ms. Lowans' Google Classroom by May 8 for a special luncheon and celebration on May 15! |
