August 24, 2025

Over the first two weeks, we've spent time each day in all classrooms establishing a strong culture through the clear establishment of expectations and community. From Pre-kindergarten to sixth grade, students have shared their ideas on how to make the year successful through cooperation and consideration toward others and discussed how each person contributes to a strong and supportive learning environment. Mrs. Reed and Mrs. Wright also recently met with all students in grades 3-6 to discuss what our PAWS Pledge is all about and how students can demonstrate a Positive Attitude, Act Responsibly, make Wise Choices, and Show Respect throughout Clay Hill. These students proved they will be working together to make it a GREAT year!

PAWS

Monthly Culture Characteristic: Community!

Our August/September Culture Characteristic is Community. Through structured lessons & activities, our students have been building a sense of belonging, ownership, and collaboration. This means:

  • Building opportunities for students to get to know each other and work cooperatively to build skills

  • Students have a voice in the structure and expectations of their classroom, allowing them to take ownership of their learning and behavior in the classroom

  • Students see themselves as a team working together towards a common goal

We can't wait to see which of our students will be honored as our September Culture MVPs for exemplifying COMMUNITY!

No ID? No Entry and No Student Release

Severe Weather - Be Prepared!

Per district policy, when lightning is detected within 8 miles of our school, "shelter in place" is initiated and students are not permitted outside the buildings. This SIGNIFICANTLY affects dismissal, which is delayed because we cannot release students unless a parent comes into the building to pick up the child, which they are always welcome to do. We'll communicate with you on days that severe weather may impact dismissal, but please be patient with us, as well as prepared, as our purpose is never to inconvenience our families, but to keep our kids safe!

Car-Rider Procedures

Be sure to acclimate yourself to our car rider procedures if you'll be picking up your students from school. Your patience is so greatly appreciated as SAFETY is our primary concern, and not speed! We will always try to dismiss students as efficiently as possible, and your adherence to our procedure is critical in making this happen! Click HERE for our Car Rider Procedures!

  • Shorts, dresses or skirts should come to the middle thigh or longer. If leggings are worn with the above mentioned clothing items, then the top layer of clothing (shorts, dress, skirt, etc.) MUST come to the middle thigh or longer.

  • Jeans/pants that have frays/holes above the middle thigh must have something underneath them, such as leggings that cover the skin, so as not to expose skin or undergarments.

  • Shirts must cover the shoulder and not expose undergarments in any manner or any part of the torso.

  • Students may bring water ONLY - no other drinks - to class, in a CLEAR, plastic bottle with a secure cap or lid.
