Clay County School Board Recognized as a Master Board
At the June regular Board Meeting, our One Clay school board was recognized for achieving Certified Board Status by the Florida School Boards Association. This distinction signifies that your board members have completed rigorous, ongoing professional development. It demonstrates our commitment to effective leadership and a deep understanding of crucial areas like school finance, policy governance, and bargaining, ultimately benefiting all One Clay students and the community.
Wireless Communication Policy
As we begin a new school year, we would like to remind families that Florida law CS/HB 379, focused on responsible technology use in schools, remains in effect. This policy was in place last school year and continues to support a focused and safe learning environment for all students.
Under this law, students in grades K–8 are not permitted to use or access cell phones at any time during the school day, including instructional time and school activities. For high school students (grades 9–12), cell phone use is prohibited during class unless a teacher allows it for educational purposes or during lunch for high school students only.
The law also restricts access to social media on district internet and bans the use of TikTok on school devices or for school-related communication.
Research consistently shows that limiting cell phone use at school leads to improved focus, academic performance, and healthier social interaction.

Classroom Expansions at Lake Asbury Junior High and Oakleaf Junior High
We are excited to open two new 32-classroom wings this school year, specifically designed to accommodate incoming 6th-grade students. These crucial expansions, located at Lake Asbury Junior High School and Oakleaf Junior High School, are vital for managing the rapid growth in these communities and providing modern learning environments.
Pictured is the new wing at Oakleaf Junior High and an interior classroom.
Our students’ safety and maintaining campus security is of the utmost importance. This means that all volunteers must register and follow the appropriate screening process. All level 1 volunteers are scanned against the Florida Sexual Offenders and Predators list each time they enter campus or volunteer. All level 2 volunteers are fingerprinted. Be sure to register before school starts! Visit our website to learn more about how to become a Volunteer at https://www.oneclay.net/page/volunteer-information.
