Dear Clay County Parents and Guardians,

As we welcome the arrival of spring and enter the fourth and final quarter of the 2025-2026 school year, I am filled with pride reflecting on the progress our students have made. It has been a privilege to visit our campuses and witness firsthand the energy and determination our students bring to their classrooms every day.

Finishing Strong

The final quarter is always a vibrant time in our district, filled with end-of-the-year activities, performances, and celebrations. However, it is also a critical period for academic growth. I want to encourage all of our students to stay engaged and finish the year strong. Maintaining focus and consistent attendance during these final weeks is essential for a successful transition to the next grade level.

Upcoming Testing Season

As we move further into April, we are also approaching our final state assessment window. These evaluations—including the FAST PM3 and various End-of-Course (EOC) exams—provide a valuable snapshot of the hard work your children have put in throughout the year.

To help our students perform their best, I want to emphasize the importance of healthy habits and consistent attendance. Please ensure your child receives a full night’s sleep and arrives at school on time throughout the testing window. A well-rested mind and a punctual start to the day are the best tools a student can have to feel confident and focused.

Please keep in mind that while these assessments are important, they are simply one piece of your child’s overall academic story. Our goal is to ensure every student feels confident and prepared to show what they have learned.

Monitoring Your Student’s Progress

We truly value the partnership we have with our families. I encourage you to remain proactive in your child’s academic journey by regularly monitoring their progress. You can view current grades, attendance, and upcoming assignments through Synergy ParentVUE. Additionally, once testing is complete, detailed student reports will be available through the Florida Department of Education’s Family Portal.

Register for the 2026-2027 School Year

Looking ahead, I am excited to announce that registration is now open for the 2026-2027 school year! This includes our newest learners in the "Class of 2039" (Kindergarten) and all students new to our district.

I strongly encourage families to register as early as possible. Registering now is vital for our district's planning process, as it allows us to accurately project enrollment numbers, finalize staffing, and ensure every student has the resources they need on day one. You can begin the process today by visiting oneclay.net/registration.

Thank you for your continued dedication to Clay County District Schools. Your support is the foundation of our students' success. Let’s work together to make this final quarter a rewarding conclusion to a fantastic school year!

Respectfully,

David Broskie

🚌 Transportation Information

School Bus Eligibility Information

Many families ask how student bus eligibility is determined. Here are the key factors used when determining transportation services:

• Distance from School
Students living within 2 miles or more from their assigned school qualify for bus transportation.

• Special Needs / IEP
Students with disabilities who require specialized transportation as part of their Individualized Education Program (IEP) are eligible for transportation regardless of distance.  Students receiving transportation through an IEP do not need to complete bus registration, as transportation is arranged through the IEP process and continues each school year.

• Hazardous Walking Conditions
Elementary students who live within the walk zone may still qualify for transportation if their route to school is officially determined to be hazardous. See additional details and form at https://sdcc.mybusplanner.com/Workflow\ViewForm.ashx?FormId=0456a7df-d321-41d9-8ad9-4e921b05b2e0

• Courtesy Riders
Students who are not eligible for bus transportation may request courtesy ridership. Approval is not guaranteed and depends on seat availability, existing routes, student behavior, and district transportation policies. See additional details and form at https://sdcc.mybusplanner.com/Workflow\ViewForm.ashx?FormId=179991bf-3f82-4de4-aba9-bafac50dbfb5

Your Voices Heard: School Start Times to Remain the Same

Big news for our school routines! After reviewing more than 20,000 survey responses, the Clay County School Board has officially voted to keep our school start times unchanged for the 2026-2027 school year.

We want to send a heartfelt thank you to every parent, student, and staff member who took the time to share their thoughts. The data showed a clear preference for our current schedules, and your input was the deciding factor in this outcome. You can rest easy knowing that Secondary, Elementary, and Junior High bell times will stay exactly as they are.

A Heartfelt Tradition: Class of 2026 Graduation Walks

As our seniors prepare to turn the tassel, we are excited to invite them to participate in one of Clay County’s most meaningful traditions: the Elementary Graduation Walks.

This is a special "full-circle" moment where graduating seniors return to their elementary school roots. Dressed in their caps and gowns, seniors will walk the halls where their educational journey began. It’s a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with former teachers, snap photos in nostalgic spots, and—best of all—be cheered on by the current elementary students who look up to them as role models.

Important Information for Senior Families:

To make these visits a success, please ensure your graduate follows these guidelines:

Cap and Gown Required: Seniors must be in full graduation regalia to participate in the walk.

Designated Times Only: To avoid disrupting the school day, visits are strictly limited to the specific dates and times set by each elementary campus.

Check with Sponsors: Students should coordinate with their high school Senior Sponsors for final details and logistics.

Find Your Schedule

Every elementary school has a different designated time for their walk. You can find the complete list of dates and times by visiting our website:

We are so proud of the Class of 2026 and can't wait to see them inspiring our youngest learners!

April OneClay Culture Lessons: Engagement

OneClay Culture is a Clay County District Schools (CCDS) initiative to unify how schools and students are supported in the areas of positive behavior support, behavior interventions, mental health supports, character education, required instruction, and discipline practices through a focus on developing positive school and classroom cultures and building our student's resiliency skills.

This month’s required instruction focuses on the theme of Engagement, emphasizing that students must take ownership of their learning to proactively prepare for their future. Through the lessons, students explore how their daily choices influence long-term outcomes, the importance of learning from and supporting others, and how to align their current efforts with future goals and opportunities. Together, these lessons encourage students to see themselves as active participants in their growth, building the habits, mindset, and connections needed to create meaningful pathways toward their future success.
